Pure 2XT
DAB - excellent!,

I recently bought the
Pure Evoke 2XT and have
been delighted with it.
I am impressed with the
sound quality, build
quality and ease of use.
It is also attractive
and combines traditional
looks with hi-tech
workings. Prior to
purchase I made a side
by side comparison with
a Roberts RD 27, and the
sound quality
over a range of stations
was far better with the
Pure. Unlike the
Roberts, the 2XT does
not have Pause/play.
I would highly recommend
the Pure!

Breathtaking
performance...,

I received my Evoke2-xt
on Saturday and set it
up in the company of my
wife and her family. All
of us were amazed at the
sound quality. It is
closer to that of a
properly configured
budget separates system
than a portable radio.
The clarity and overall
quality of sound is a
real shock for this
first time DAB user. I
toyed with the idea of
the portable Pure DAB
but I didn't like the
reports of battery life
or performance. The XT
mates very well with the
Sennheiser PX100
headphones (a tip I
picked up from What Hi
fi 2005 awards).
I live in an area
where the BBC DAB site
says 'may receive
signal'. Downstairs I
get absolutely nothing
but upstairs i have all
the channels i want and
many more besides. This
is probably due more to
the construction of my
house rather than signal
problems in the area
(suspended concrete
floors).
All in all this radio
is the business.

Excellent...,
12 Jan 2006
I bought this radio
having read the reviews
beforehand I couldn't
believe a product could
be as good as they were
saying: It is, and
better. Sound quality
astonishing given it's
size, and it's design
fits in with anything -
contemporary or modern.
Mains and battery
powered for max
convenience. Sound
clarity is CD standard
(you keep on thinking
you need to change the
CD!) and usability
excellent - scrolling
alphabetically through
the stations. Downsides:
radio loses your pre-set
stations when batteries
run out of juice and
chews its way through
batteries - you'd be
lucky if they last more
than a couple of hours.
Otherwise one of the
best purchases I've ever
made. |
